There is a need to Restructure and Re-invest in Agriculture of Punjab: Dr. R.S. Ghuman

Patiala: The Innovation Cell of Multani Mal Modi College, Patiala in collaboration with the Department of Economics, today organized the first lecture “Turning points of Punjab Economy since its reorganization in 1966’ of the innovative lecture series on socio-economic issues of Punjab.
The objective of this lecture was to explore and understand the connotations and socio-economic landscape of the contemporary Punjab and to discuss the socio-political problems and issues faced by it. The lecture was delivered by Prof. R. S. Ghuman, Professor of Eminence, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar
College principal Dr. Khushvinder Kumar ji while welcoming the main speaker said that Punjab is passing through a transitional phase of history, and it is appropriate time to initiate dialogue about the inter-contextual complicity of social –political and economic factors of Punjabi people.
Dr. Neeraj Goyal, Convener of Innovation Cell of the college and head Department of Business Management said that our innovation cell is committed for researching and exploring technological and business oriented solutions of various socio, economic and cultural problems of Punjab.
Dr. Maninderdeep Cheema, Assistant Professor, Economics Department formally introduced the topic of the lecture and said that Punjabi society as a economical and sociological unit is a complex society and the fundamental purpose of this discussion is to understand the socio-economic problems of the present Punjab and to explore the different streaks of conscious for solving them.
Prof. R. S. Ghuman, while addressing the students remembered the reconstruction of Punjab after partition, the repercussions of green revolution, the dark periods after 1984 and the current era of commoditization and commercialization of agriculture. He also discussed the unorganized urbanization, the large-scale immigration and degradation of environment. He said that there is need to address the present electoral process, to invest in agricultural based industries, to end the freebies and populist policies and to re-invent the ethical foundations of socio-political consciousness.
Yashna, BA part two student conducted the stage during the lecture. All Social Sciences students were present in the lecture. The vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Amandeep Kaur, Head of Economics Department.

ਮੁਲਤਾਨੀ ਮੱਲ ਮੋਦੀ ਕਾਲਜ, ਪਟਿਆਲਾ ਦੇ ਇਨੋਵੇਸ਼ਨ ਸੈੱਲ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਅਰਥ ਸ਼ਾਸਤਰ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਦੇ ਸਹਿਯੋਗ ਨਾਲ ਅੱਜ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੇ ਸਮਾਜਿਕ-ਆਰਥਿਕ ਮੁੱਦਿਆਂ ‘ਤੇ ਨਵੀਨਤਮ ਵਿਚਾਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਲੈਕਚਰ ਲੜੀ ਦੇ ਤਹਿਤ ਪਹਿਲਾ ਲੈਕਚਰ “1966 ਵਿੱਚ ਪੁਨਰਗਠਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੀ ਆਰਥਿਕਤਾ ਦੇ ਮੋੜ” ਆਯੋਜਿਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ।
ਇਸ ਲੈਕਚਰ ਦਾ ਉਦੇਸ਼ ਸਮਕਾਲੀ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੇ ਸੰਕਟਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਸਮਾਜਿਕ-ਆਰਥਿਕ ਪ੍ਰਸਥਿਤੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਪੜਚੋਲ ਕਰਨਾ ਅਤੇ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਦਰਪੇਸ਼ ਸਮਾਜਿਕ-ਸਿਆਸੀ ਸਮੱਸਿਆਵਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਮੁੱਦਿਆਂ ‘ਤੇ ਚਰਚਾ ਕਰਨਾ ਸੀ। ਇਸ ਲੈਕਚਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਮੁੱਖ ਵਕਤਾ ਵੱਜੋਂ ਪ੍ਰੋ. ਆਰ.ਐੱਸ.ਘੁੰਮਣ, ਪ੍ਰੋਫ਼ੈਸਰ ਆਫ਼ ਐਮੀਨੈਂਸ, ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਨਕ ਦੇਵ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ, ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਸਰ ਨੇ ਸ਼ਿਰਕਤ ਕੀਤੀ।
ਕਾਲਜ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਿੰਸੀਪਲ ਡਾ. ਖੁਸ਼ਵਿੰਦਰ ਕੁਮਾਰ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਮੁੱਖ ਵਕਤਾ ਦਾ ਸੁਆਗਤ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਹੁਣ ਦਾ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਇਤਿਹਾਸ ਦੇ ਬਹੁ-ਪਰਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਗੁੰਝਲਦਾਰ ਪਰਿਵਰਤਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਦੌਰ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਲੰਘ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਸਮਾਜਿਕ-ਸਿਆਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਆਰਥਿਕ ਕਾਰਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਅੰਤਰ-ਪ੍ਰਸੰਗਤਾ ਬਾਰੇ ਸੰਵਾਦ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਇਹੀ ਢੁਕਵਾਂ ਸਮਾਂ ਹੈ।
ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਤੇ ਕਾਲਜ ਦੇ ਇਨੋਵੇਸ਼ਨ ਸੈੱਲ ਦੇ ਕਨਵੀਨਰ ਅਤੇ ਬਿਜ਼ਨੇਸ ਮੈਨੇਜਮੈਂਟ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਦੇ ਮੁਖੀ ਡਾ. ਨੀਰਜ ਗੋਇਲ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਸਾਡਾ ਇਨੋਵੇਸ਼ਨ ਸੈੱਲ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੀਆਂ ਵੱਖ-ਵੱਖ ਸਮਾਜਿਕ, ਆਰਥਿਕ ਅਤੇ ਸੱਭਿਆਚਾਰਕ ਸਮੱਸਿਆਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਤਕਨੀਕੀ ਅਤੇ ਵਪਾਰਕ ਆਧਾਰਿਤ ਹੱਲ ਲੱਭਣ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਵਚਨਬੱਧ ਹੈ।
ਡਾ: ਮਨਿੰਦਰਦੀਪ ਚੀਮਾ, ਸਹਾਇਕ ਪ੍ਰੋਫੈਸਰ, ਅਰਥ ਸਾਸ਼ਤਰ ਨੇ ਲੈਕਚਰ ਦੇ ਵਿਸ਼ੇ ਦੀ ਰਸਮੀ ਜਾਣ-ਪਛਾਣ ਕਰਾਉਂਦਿਆਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਸਮਾਜ ਸਮਾਜਿਕ ਅਤੇ ਆਰਥਿਕ ਇਕਾਈ ਵਜੋਂ ਇੱਕ ਗੁੰਝਲਦਾਰ ਸਮਾਜ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਇਸ ਵਿਚਾਰ-ਚਰਚਾ ਦਾ ਮੂਲ ਉਦੇਸ਼ ਅਜੋਕੇ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੀਆਂ ਸਮਾਜਿਕ-ਆਰਥਿਕ ਸਮੱਸਿਆਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝਣਾ ਅਤੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਹੱਲ ਲਈ ਚੇਤਨਾ ਦੀਆਂ ਵੱਖ-ਵੱਖ ਲੀਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਪੜਚੋਲ ਕਰਨਾ ਹੈ।
ਪ੍ਰੋ. ਆਰ.ਐਸ.ਘੁੰਮਣ ਨੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੰਬੋਧਨ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਵੰਡ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੇ ਪੁਨਰ-ਨਿਰਮਾਣ ਨੂੰ ਯਾਦ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਹਰੀ ਕ੍ਰਾਂਤੀ ਦੇ ਮਾੜੇ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵਾਂ, 1984 ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਦੇ ਕਾਲੇ ਦੌਰ ਅਤੇ ਮੌਜੂਦਾ ਖੇਤੀਬਾੜੀ ਦੇ ਵਸਤੂੀਕਰਨ ਅਤੇ ਵਪਾਰੀਕਰਨ, ਅਸੰਗਠਿਤ ਸ਼ਹਿਰੀਕਰਨ, ਵੱਡੇ ਪੱਧਰ ‘ਤੇ ਆਵਾਸ ਦੀ ਸਮੱਸਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਵਾਤਾਵਰਣ ਦੇ ਵਿਗਾੜ੍ਹਾਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਚਰਚਾ ਕੀਤੀ।ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਮੌਜੂਦਾ ਚੋਣ ਪ੍ਰਕਿਰਿਆ ਨੂੰ ਸੰਬੋਧਿਤ ਹੋਣ, ਖੇਤੀ ਆਧਾਰਿਤ ਉਦਯੋਗਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਿਵੇਸ਼ ਕਰਨ, ਮੁਫਤ ਅਤੇ ਲੋਕ-ਲੁਭਾਊ ਨੀਤੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਖਤਮ ਕਰਨ ਅਤੇ ਸਮਾਜਿਕ-ਰਾਜਨੀਤਿਕ ਚੇਤਨਾ ਦੀਆਂ ਨੈਤਿਕ ਬੁਨਿਆਦਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮੁੜ ਤੋਂ ਖੋਜਣ ਦੀ ਲੋੜ ਹੈ।
ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਤੇ ਮਿਸ ਯਾਛਨਾ, ਬੀ.ਏ.ਭਾਗ ਦੂਜਾ ਨੇ ਸਟੇਜ ਸਕੱਤਰ ਦੀ ਭੂਮਿਕਾ ਨਿਭਾਈ। ਇਸ ਭਾਸ਼ਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਸ਼ੋਸ਼ਲ ਸਾਇੰਸਿਜ਼ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਭਾਗ ਲਿਆ। ਇਸ ਭਾਸ਼ਣ ਦੀ ਸਮਾਪਤੀ ਤੇ ਡਾ. ਅਮਨਦੀਪ ਕੌਰ, ਮੁਖੀ, ਅਰਥ ਸਾਸ਼ਤਰ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਧੰਨਵਾਦ ਦਾ ਮਤਾ ਪੇਸ਼ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ।
